-You will read a book of your choice from the following (you will need to purchase or check out of a library):
The Old Man and the Sea Ernest Hemingway
The Awakening Kate Chopin
The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne
Animal Farm George Orwell **If you took AP Euro, I KNOW you already read this! Choose another one, please!
For HTRLAP: You will READ IT ALL! And complete the assignments provided for it, choosing 10 chapters and then completing the assignments for Chapters 12 and 27.
For your choice novel: You will read it like a professor! That means taking notes, commenting about the text (using Post-Its or notebook paper).
On the first day of school you will turn in your MWDS, turn in your reading notes for HTRLAP and any about your novel, and take a quiz covering information in HTRLAP. This will count as your first test grade in AP English IV!
NOTE: YOU MAY NOT USE THE INTERNET FOR ANY INFORMATION (unless you need to find historical/author information for the MWDS in which case, cite all sources used!). IF ANY WORK IS EERILY SIMILAR TO ANYTHING AVAILABLE ON-LINE OR TO ANY WORK TURNED IN BY ANOTHER STUDENT IT WILL BE CONSIDERED CHEATING AND RECEIVE A 0!
